Based on the information above, if you find that your internet speeds are higher than needed, we’d recommend reaching out to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and switching to a lower-cost plan. You may be paying for more speed than you actually need, and these additional fees could be costing you month after month. For that use other servers/services.For one, it could potentially save you some money. But don't use these 'max speeds' from your ISP provider to indicate your consistent/average speeds. TL DR: You should still test to make sure your max speeds match what you should be getting as 'max speeds'. True you won't get those speeds constantly or consistently, but the max should always be reached on a 'max test' from the ISP. And if you're not, you know for sure you have an issue. You should, on OUR website, be hitting your max speeds". Does that make sense? So I contacted them and they said, "Yes, that's an issue. Even if it IS max, the fact that I'm not reaching my 'paid for max' is still an issue when testing the max. I tested it there, and noticed I was only getting 60 down and 1 up (during times of issue). Say I have a plan for 100 down and 15 up. ![]() When I was having issues with comcast I went to their website (google comcast speedtest) and tested my internet there. on the other hand, drawing the right conclusions from them is still not trivial. Therefore, running a few different tests to a few different servers gives you the most detailed results. so one route might be congested, while the other is not. Moreover, even when connecting to the same city it still might run different routes. So, before jumping to conclusions you should first verify which server the tests are running on. (i really have that case with the default server that is picking for me) when i connect to one server in my city, but it is overused then my results will be worse than that from a server just a few km further away that is almost unused. if one connects you to the closest available, then it'll obviously show you higher results (unless something is effed up royally) than a connection to somewhere half the globe away from you. It mostly depends on the server the respective test is using. Thanks to /u/iTruthful and Conceptional for the art!
